A Heroic Escapade
Narrative
Location: Houston, Texas August 25th, 2017
As waters rush past the street, Noah clings to his wife’s fingertips, using all of his strength to keep her from succumbing to the racing water. Noah's grip began to loosen, knowing he could no longer continue to hang on, Noah took one last look at his wife and said, “I love you. I’m so sorry.”
Cuts to News in Luna’s house.
Anchor: Dr. Noah Scott has successfully been able to pull water out of the air with a highly efficient Atmospheric Water Generator. This innovation would create an abundance of potable water for countless regions suffering from water shortages.
Luna’s Handler Walks in: “Luna, do you think this has something to do with the increased flash flooding in Brazil.”
Luna responds, “I’m not sure, but flooding shouldn’t be happening this far into the dry season; it’s certainly worth looking into.”
Luna’s Handler asks, “Should I prepare the jet?” Luna: “Yes”
Luna boards the Jet and sets off for Brazil.
Luna’s Handler: “We are just above the drop zone,” Luna jumps, using her telekinetic powers to brace her fall. Once she is on the ground, she uses her telepathy to scan the area for people. Luna hears the faint thoughts of two men. She approaches the place where she picked up on the thoughts of two men scanning the town of Aragarças. She hears one of the men say, “Initiate.” A low humming noise begins. Sensing the city may be in danger, Luna rushes towards Aragarças. Just as she arrives at the town’s outskirts, a massive stream of water powerful enough to erase the city barrels down on Luna and the people of Aragarças. Luna waits for the stream to get close enough before using her telekinesis to part the stream diverting the water around the city, saving the people of Aragarças. The humming stops. Physically strained from using her powers for so long, Luna kneels. Just as she’s resting, she feels her body lock up, barely being able to move her head far enough to see she’s surrounded by a series of poles emanating electromagnetic pulses.
Luna passes out... Then wakes up still surrounded by the EMP poles sees Noah standing in front of a wall-sized monitor. Noah Speaks, “Three years ago this month, I lost my wife in Hurricane Harvey, and do you know who is responsible for her death?” Luna responds, “Who.” Noah: “Everyone who has sat back and watched wasteful practices consume the world. Everyone is responsible, and Everyone will drown as she did. The world will feel my loss.” Noah reaches to start his Atmospheric Water Generator. Luna attempts to use her telepathy to stop Noah from flooding the earth. But Noah’s resolve, his pain was too great for Luna to overcome. As Noah almost finished starting his (AWG). Luna knew what she must do. Her only option at his moment would be to wipe his memories. Doing so would take away every memory Noah held dear, every memory of his wife, every moment in Noah’s life that had shaped him. Luna conflicted if she could take away everything from this man who was ultimately still in grieving. She knew if she didn’t, the world would be submerged in water. Luna makes her choice using her telekinesis, enters Noah’s mind, and absorbs all of his memories. Luna feels every joyous moment Noah spent with his wife. Luna feels Noah’s pain and anger when he watched his wife be swept away by the flood. Noah regains his consciousness free from the anger and resolve that drove him. Luna can now use her telepathy to get Noah to free her.
