Hero's Journey
Luna Valentina first begins her story as a regular teenage girl living a normal life with her toy poodle daisy in a larger city in California. She knows that her parents founded a tech company that is doing extremely well, but she was never too interested in what her parents do. One day she ends up going with her parents to their company’s main lab. Her parents go off talking with some of their employees and she gets bored and starts to wander around the lab looking at the large machines they have spread throughout the lab. She wanders too close to one of the machines and sets it off. She feels weird but she doesn’t feel hurt so she doesn’t bother to tell anyone about what happened because she didn’t think she needed to.
The machine however gave her two superpowers. The power of telekinesis and the power of telepathy. These powers start Luna’s journey into the unknown world as she starts to experiment with her powers. She finds a mentor in Daisy who is surprisingly wise, and extremely vulgar. Together travel further and further into the unknown world by testing her new powers. Luna is thrown into her first threshold and into the world of the unknown when she reads her parents mind and learns they are supplying weapons of mass destruction to the US military. At first she refuses the call to adventure and puts off doing anything but after she learns more and more about what they are doing she decides what they are doing needs to be stop and only she can put a stop to it. She crosses the threshold and begins to spy on her parents learning as she can and sabotaging them as much as she can.
She is faced with not knowing what she wants to happen to her parents. She knows that she wants them to stop but she doesn’t know what it's going to take to get them to stop. Luna and Daisy decide getting them arrested is the best way to stop them because she doesn’t want them to be hurt, but she wants them to pay for their crimes against humanity. This decision represents her approach to the inmost cave. Next she faces the ordeal, actually getting her parents arrested, which she eventually does, exposing what they have done to the world.
Luna then gets an apartment with Daisy and settles down to seize her reward which she believes to be a normal life, but with a little extra fun because she has powers, but when she sits down and watches the news she learns about an evil scientist named Dr. Noah who is targeting companies and people that have contributed to climate change.
She decides that she needs to use her new powers for good and become a hero “La Espía” the name her parents called her when they figured out someone was spying on them. She is resurrected as a real hero that fights for the people.
Now she is faced with a new ordeal, she uses her powers to find Dr. Noah and finds out that his family was killed by an ecological event that was triggered by the warming planet and is acting in revenge. She tries to do everything she can to stop him but she is forced to use her most powerful ability. Wiping his memory. This stops him and she is allowed to return back into her known world where she waits for another villain to come along. She discovers that someone acting just like Dr. Noah is causing problems.
She starts to consider that she didn't actually defeat him, but Daisy assures her that she did defeat him and provides video evidence that she is the one causing these problems. This brings Luna all the way back to the start of the hero’s journey where she is in denial of what's going on. Her mentor brings her back across the threshold into the world of the unknown where she admits she had Dr. Noah inside her mind and he is taking control of her to do these awful things. She decides that she needs to go to her parents and seek advice on how to purge herself of Dr. Noah, her seeing her parents again is the second approach of the inmost cave. Her parents tell her of a witch that can help her, but it won't be as easy as she hopes it will be. Once she has found the witch she puts her through her most difficult ordeal that she has faced so far, she needs to recognize that her mind is weak due to neglecting her own needs. Through a therapy session with the witch she is ready to face Dr. Noah in spiritual form. After she is able to defeat him for good. She is finally able to embark on her road back home and back to who she was before Dr. Noah was able to take control of her. Luna’s return with the elixir is her being able to relax at home and wait for another call to adventure to bring her back to the superhero world.
