Intertextual Influences
The way luna gets her powers was heavily influenced by the television show Danny Phantom. Danny gets his powers by trying to fix his parents' ghost portal, but, to his surprise, the machine activated with him inside of it allowing him to turn into a ghost on a whim.
In the first season, Luna's parents sell weapons to different foreign powers, similarly to Tony Stark in the first Iron Man film. Unlike Tony, her parents don't come to the realization that what they are doing is harmful and wrong leaving Luna to help them along with that process. Luna is faced with the moral obligation of going against her parents' arms dealing affairs. This idea was influenced by Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Zuko's father was the evil Fire Lord, Ozai. Zuko allied himself with the Avatar in order to stop his father's regime and bring balance to the world. Jessica Jones has a large influence on the style of La Espía. Both shows are super hero/action/investigation shows. Jessica Jones is a private investigator that dresses in street clothes, despite being a super hero. Luna, on the other hand, has a much stronger moral compass and she becomes a hero while Jessica simply remains a hired PI. |
